But the heartbreaking reality is that today, two years after the COVID-19 pandemic caused school closures and forced shutdowns, 12 million children in America are struggling with hunger.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Since March 2020, food insecurity rates across the nation for families with children have risen by nearly two-thirds. More than 1 in 5 rural children are estimated to experience food insecurity, a projected increase higher than pre-pandemic levels.
